Direct Guest Requests
Write to My Desk
When you write to my desk, you are sending a note directly to a fellow host who cares about how a hotel room actually sleeps. I do not take payment details or process instant online charges. Instead, I help you frame your exact stay requirements—from room category and pillow preferences to arrival times—and pass them directly to the hotel or booking partner.

What the Request Form Asks
To help you secure the right room, the form asks for simple, concrete details: your travel dates, the total number of sleepers, and which property you are eyeing across all ten houses. I also ask for room preferences, such as whether you need twin beds rather than a standard king or a quiet floor away from the lifts, as discussed in my guide to beds and sleep.
You never need to enter payment card numbers on this site. For full details on how contact information is handled, you can inspect the privacy notice or review how I rate a stay to understand how each property was examined.
What Happens After You Send
Once your message reaches my desk, I check your notes against published check-in policies and room options. If anything looks tight—such as strict departure windows noted in my advice on service and the desk—I will highlight it in my reply. Your request is then sent to the hotel or authorised booking partner to confirm live availability and current rates. You complete your payment and reservation directly with the venue.
- Nights, beds and a hotel, or leave the hotel to the desk.
- The desk checks rates and a room that meets the standard with the hotel or a booking partner.
- You get an email, usually within one working day.
- You book with the hotel or the partner; no card details here.
Reading is free; the publisher is paid by hotels. Open a hotel's site from here and book, or let the standard desk arrange the stay, and the hotel or a booking partner pays this site a referral fee. The standard is scored from what the hotels publish, and no fee changes a score.
