The Stay Standard Profile
Crown Perth: Rating the Stay Across Three Burswood Hotels
When I look at a complex with nearly twelve hundred rooms spread across three separate hotel towers, I look past the grand atrium marble and check the simple things. I want to know if the bed sheet feels crisp, how check-in runs at 3pm on a busy Friday, whether breakfast at the Atrium Buffet or Epicurean is well managed, and if you can sleep quietly beside the Swan River.

The Burswood Complex: Three Hotels on the Swan River
Running a small house teaches you that scale changes everything. At Crown Perth, operated by licensee Burswood Nominees Limited under Crown Resorts, you are not stepping into a single front door. You are choosing between three distinct accommodation towers set along the Burswood peninsula, roughly three kilometres east of the Perth central business district and ten kilometres from Perth Airport by secondary sources.
The property began as Burswood Island Casino in December 1985 before the wider resort officially opened in April 1988. Today, the three hotels cater to completely different staying styles. Crown Melbourne organises its precinct along Southbank in a similar three-tier structure, but Burswood's open riverbank setting gives it a roomier feel. Online casino play is strictly prohibited in Australia under the Interactive Gambling Act 2001; all gaming here is physical, venue-based, and restricted to adults aged 18 and over.
Crown Towers Perth, which opened in December 2016, is the flagship tower, offering 500 rooms according to secondary listings. Crown Metropol Perth opened in October 1987 as the Burswood Island Hotel and houses 405 rooms, while Crown Promenade Perth added 291 rooms when it opened in August 2005. Together, they create a precinct of almost 1,200 rooms on the banks of the Swan River. When I evaluate the standard of a multi-hotel site, I look closely at whether each tower delivers on its published promises.
Room Categories and Bedding Configurations
Choosing a room across three towers requires reading the fine print. In my own house, a king bed is a king bed, but large resort listings can obscure essential details like twin configurations or quiet wing placements. You can review how these options compare on the stay table, but here is what Crown Perth publishes for each hotel.
Crown Towers Perth offers Deluxe King and Deluxe Twin rooms, Premier King and Premier Twin options, Studios, Executive Club Suites, Premier Club View Suites, and Deluxe Villas with 24-hour butler service. If you need a guaranteed twin setup for two sleepers, the Deluxe Twin and Premier Twin specify two beds in the room listing. Tower rooms are fitted with high-end furnishings, and guests staying in club-level rooms gain access to the Crystal Club lounge on the 15th floor.
Crown Metropol Perth features Luxe King, Luxe Twin, Luxe View King, and Luxe View Twin rooms, alongside the Luxe King Spa Room, One Bedroom Penthouse, Two Bedroom Penthouse, and The Loft. The Metropol layout tends to draw families due to its pool district, so choosing a higher floor or a Luxe View room helps separate your sleep from lower-level foot traffic. Crown Metropol's lobby is currently undergoing a revitalization into a lounge and entertainment space.
Crown Promenade Perth provides a straightforward 4-star experience with Superior King, Superior Twin, Superior King Balcony, Spa Studio, and Suite options. Having a balcony room option in the Superior King Balcony category is a real asset for fresh air, though you should keep balcony doors closed at night to shut out highway or train line background sound. Breakfast at Burswood: Atrium Buffet, Epicurean, and Crystal Club
Breakfast is where a large resort reveals its operational character. At Burswood, guest breakfast centers around three major venues, each serving a different purpose and atmosphere. You can compare breakfast setups across all ten properties in our dedicated guide to breakfast.
Atrium Buffet is located in the main Metropol lobby. It serves a wide broad-spectrum breakfast with extensive hot dishes, pastries, and fruit counters. If you prefer a calmer morning meal, getting down right at opening time makes a noticeable difference to your tea or coffee service.
Epicurean, situated inside Crown Towers, provides global-cuisine buffet dining with open kitchens. On weekends and public holidays, breakfast at Epicurean is reserved exclusively for guests staying at Crown Hotels. This policy keeps queue times under control and ensures hotel residents receive priority seating over casual walk-ins.
For those staying in club categories at Crown Towers, the Crystal Club on the 15th floor offers complimentary breakfast from 6:30am to 11:00am on weekdays and 7:00am to 12:00pm on weekends. The club environment is far quieter than the main ground-floor buffets, featuring an outdoor terrace with Swan River views. Casual dining across the broader precinct includes 88 Noodle Bar, Cotta café in the casino floor area, Junction Grill, The Merrywell pub, and the Urban Food District, which opened in February 2026 with options like Side Piece Pizza and Taco Daddy.
Service, Check-In, and Desk Operations
Check-in across all three Crown Perth properties begins at 3:00pm, with standard check-out set at 11:00am. These published times are consistent, but late check-out policy is strict: the venue explicitly states that late check-out is unavailable on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, school holidays, and periods of high occupancy. If you arrive late on a Sunday night, keep in mind that the desk cannot extend your Monday morning departure if the house is full.
Each tower operates its own front desk desk team, though general hotel enquiries route through the central phone line (+61 8 9362 8888). Arrival logistics depend heavily on how you reach Burswood. If driving, the precinct offers over 4,000 parking bays available 24/7 across undercover and open car parks. Valet parking is available at the Crown Towers entrance covering guests of all three hotels. Paid self-parking options include P2 Multi-Level, P4 Riverside, and P1 Undercroft, while complimentary parking is offered at outdoor lots P3, P6, and P8. Guests spending $50 or more at participating signature restaurants can validate parking at P2 or P4.
Public transport access is via Burswood train station on the Armadale/Thornlie line. Crown operates a complimentary shuttle bus connecting the food court entrance to Burswood station. The shuttle runs Sunday to Thursday from 9:00am to 7:55pm, and Friday to Saturday from 9:00am to 8:55pm (excluding Christmas Day, Good Friday, and ANZAC Day morning). For further details on desk procedures across Australia, consult our guide to service and the desk.
Pools, Spa, and Quiet on the Swan River
A good stay requires quiet when the sun goes down. Burswood Island sits tucked inside a bend of the Swan River, which gives the property a natural buffer from city noise compared to urban towers like Crown Sydney or The Star Sydney. However, Optus Stadium is located a short 15 to 20-minute walk north along the riverbank, meaning event days at the stadium bring heavy foot traffic and higher noise levels through the public grounds.
Pool facilities differ significantly by hotel tower:
- Crown Towers: Features expansive resort lagoon pools surrounded by day beds, served by the Poolside Bar & Grill. It also houses Crown Spa Perth, offering La Prairie facials and Subtle Energies body treatments, as well as an Aqua Retreat with sauna, steam room, vitality pool, and rain showers open to spa guests.
- Crown Metropol: Designed for families, featuring a main pool, a relaxation pool, and a dedicated family pool with children's waterslides, alongside The Kids Hub indoor play area for children aged 12 and under.
- Crown Promenade: Offers a standard outdoor swimming pool and well-equipped fitness centre, suitable for a quick morning lap without resort crowds.
Regarding public review scores, Crown Perth does not publish consolidated third-party platform ratings on its official site, and none could be verified in official records under our how I rate a stay methodology.
